B2C Customer Registration

When a new B2C customer registers in the webshop, the customer's template data is used to create a new customer. In the webshop on the 'Creating a new account' page a B2C customer enters only personal contact information, like name and address. All other data like currency, posting groups, invoice discounts is copied from the customer's template to the newly registered customer. Therefore, a customer template should be created and assigned to each country available in the webshop for registration.

The language preference of a newly registered B2C customer depends on the language which is selected in the webshop. This means that when for example a new customer registers in the webshop and the Dutch language is selected in the webshop, this language will be recorded in the customer's card in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Next time when the customer logs in the webshop the language which was selected during registration in the webshop will be automatically used in the webshop.

When a new B2C customer registers in the webshop, a customer selects from the dropdown the country she/he lives in. Therefore, the list of the available countries and customer templates should be configured in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

To manage the countries:

Step 1: In Microsoft Dynamics NAV go to: Administration -> Application Setup -> General -> Countries/Regions:

Countries/Regions Table

Step 2: Select the 'Visible in Webshop' check boxes of the countries which should be available in the webshop in the 'Countries' dropdown.

Step 3: Select the 'Customer Template Code' for the predefined settings which will be copied to the newly registered B2C customer.

The customer templates can be created at the following location: Sales & Marketing -> Sales -> Administration -> Setup -> Customer Templates. Use the 'Customer Template' table to create templates with the information which will be used to create a new B2C customer based on the information in the template.

Both 'Visible in Webshop' and 'Customer Template Code' settings have to be defined for the correct work.

The 'Countries/Regions' table is also used to configure countries that should be available when a sales agent creates a prospect. For more information, see 'Prospect Functionality and Ordering Process'.

Location Code, which is used to suggest items from a particular inventory location, will be copied to the newly registered B2C customer from the template customer set on the webshop card. The template customer which is set on the webshop card is created in the 'Customer' table. The location code can be set on the customer card which is used as a template, under the 'Shipping' FastTab.

Template Customer No.

If you use Microsoft Dynamics NAV NA localization two more fields 'Tax Liable' and 'Tax Area Code' are available on the Customer Template which is set for the country and Template Customer which is set for the webshop. You can select the 'Tax Liable' checkbox and enter the tax area code which is used for calculating sales tax when ordering. When a customer registers in the webshop tax information is copied to the newly registered customer. Both tax area codes are used, the one which is entered on the Customer Template set for the country and Template Customer set for the webshop. Tax area code entered on the Template Customer set for the webshop has higher priority.
