Import Microsoft Dynamics AX Connector

If you are installing the Sana Commerce project for the first time, there is no need to import jobs 'SC_beforeimport82', 'SC_afterimport82' and 'SC_deleteshopaccounts'. It can be done by unchecking these jobs in the import dialog form. These jobs are necessary for the upgrade procedure.

There are two ways how to import Sana Commerce Microsoft Dynamics AX project:

  • Import with the development license;
  • Import by creating a new layer.

Read the detailed description of both ways below.

The project can be found in the Sana Commerce release package: Sana Commerce v8.2 -> AX -> [AX Version] -> 'SharedProject_SANA.xpo'.

Import with the Development License

To import Sana Commerce Microsoft Dynamics AX project to the environment with the development license the following steps should be performed:

Step 1: Start Microsoft Dynamics AX environment.

You can start the Microsoft Dynamics AX environment on different layers using the configuration tool and import the project on an empty layer.

Step 2: Go to the following location at Microsoft Dynamics AX menu: Tools > Development tools > Wizards > Label file wizard.

Step 3: Check the 'Create new label file ID' checkbox and click 'Next'.

Step 4: Type 'SCL' in the 'Label file ID' field and click 'Next'. Then click 'Finish' to exit from a wizard.

Step 5: Open projects window (Ctrl+Shift+P) and select the 'Shared' folder.

Step 6: Import the Sana Commerce Microsoft Dynamics AX project (Ctrl+Shift+I) with labels. The project ('SharedProject_SANA.xpo' file) can be found in the 'AX' folder of the release package.

Step 7: Compile SANA project and check that there is no errors or warnings.

If some errors occurred please import the project one more time and recompile it.

If labels are shown incorrectly, stop AOS and replace the label file in the application directory with the one from the Sana Commerce release package (the 'axSCLen-us.ald' file in the 'AX' folder).

Pay attention to the display language of Microsoft Dynamics AX. By default we provide the label file only for the English (United States) language of Microsoft Dynamics AX with the language culture name 'en-us'. For all other available languages in AX, Microsoft Dynamics AX creates the empty label files.

Thus if your Microsoft Dynamics AX uses some other display language or the English language but not with 'en-us' language culture name, for instance 'en-GB' for United Kingdom then you should copy the content of the label file from the release package into the appropriate label file in the AX application directory with a language culture name of your AX client. Or just copy the label file from the release package, rename it using the correct language culture name and replace the one in the AX application directory.

For example, if during the installation of Microsoft Dynamics AX you have selected the Dutch display language, the label file should be renamed to 'axSCLnl.ald'.

If all steps have been followed and performed then the Sana Commerce Microsoft Dynamics AX project is imported to the environment with the development license.

Import by Creating a New Layer

To import the Sana Commerce Microsoft Dynamics AX project to the environment by creating a new layer the following steps should be performed:

This is a long term procedure and can take about 30-60 minutes. The Microsoft Dynamics AX environment will be inaccessible during this time.

Step 1: Start Microsoft Dynamics AX environment.

Step 5: Close Microsoft Dynamics AX environment.

Step 6: Stop Application Object Server (AOS) for Microsoft Dynamics AX environment.

Step 7: Put the label file to the folder at the following location and replace the existing one: [Microsoft Dynamics AX installation path]\Application\Appl\DynamicsAx.

Step 8: Put VAR layer file to the same folder: [Microsoft Dynamics AX installation path]\Application\Appl\DynamicsAx.

All data on this layer will be overwritten. If you have important customization on this layer, you have to consider about another layer (e.g. VAP layer) and request the layer file for it.

Step 9: Start Application Object Server (AOS) for Microsoft Dynamics AX environment.

Step 10: Start the Microsoft Dynamics AX environment and complete upgrade checklist. (It may take 30-60 minutes)

If all steps have been followed and performed then the Sana Commerce Microsoft Dynamics AX project is imported to the environment by creating a new layer.
