To protect SAP system communications at the transport layer, the SAP NetWeaver products support the use of the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. Communication channels transfer a wide variety of different business data that needs to be protected from unauthorized access.

Use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol to secure HTTP connections to and from SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP. When using SSL, the data being transferred between the two parties (client and server) is encrypted.
