SAP License Requirements

Depending on the configuration of SAP Business One, additional SAP licenses may be required to run Sana Commerce. Informing the customer, installation and support of these licenses is the responsibility of the SAP Business One reseller.

Sana Commerce does not accept any liability for the content of this page, or for the consequences of any actions taken on the basis of the information provided. The information below should be interpreted as an example. No rights can be derived from this information.

The initial installation or upgrade of the Sana add-on in SAP Business One must be performed by the SAP user with a Superuser authorization and a Professional User license. Any changes to the core SAP settings leveraged by Sana should be performed by a user with such privileges.

The day-to-day usage of the Sana add-on in SAP Business One requires the SAP user to be a Superuser with the Indirect Access User license. Due to SAP licensing mechanisms, it is required that this user is dedicated solely for the purpose of running the Sana add-on as this user is used to log in to SAP Business One and it communicates directly through the DI Server. For more details on SAP licensing, please consult your partner and see the SAP note 1815509.

From April 1, 2018

Since April 1, 2018, SAP Business One changed its licensing model. The DI Server license was replaced by the Indirect Access Instance license.

The Indirect Access Instance license is a pricing construct which provides two possibilities:

  1. The possibility to assign an unlimited amount of DI Server licenses to your customer's SAP Business One installation.
  2. The possibility to assign an unlimited (99999) amount of Indirect Access User licenses to SAP users.
SAP license name Number of licenses required Connection type
Indirect Access Instance 1 Indirect Access Instance license used by SAP Business One application server * Data Interface Server (DI Server)

 * The Indirect Access Instance license caries a one-time license fee with a yearly enhancement which authorizes the communication flow between the Sana web store and the customer's SAP Business One system via the DI Server license. Once purchased, a user can also follow our documentation to configure the SAP user dedicated for Sana, which requires the Indirect Access User license as well as Superuser authorization.

Before April 1, 2018

If you have the DI Server license, you can still use it.

Depending on SAP Business One application server setup the following SAP licenses are required:

SAP license name Number of licenses required Connection type
DI Server (DIS) Two times the amount of DI Server licenses as the amount of CPU cores the SAP Business One application server has. * Data Interface Server (DI Server)

 * Each DI Server license utilizes 1 Core of the SAP application server that is used to process data flow between Sana and SAP Business One. The DI Server license caries a one-time license fee with a yearly enhancement which authorizes the communication flow between the Sana Commerce web store and the customer's SAP Business One system. According to SAP, each core that is used for daily operations by SAP Business One system should also be licensed for DI Server. For example, if you have Beta and Live environments each using 4 cores of the SAP application server, then you will need 8 DI Server licenses.
