Install Sana Commerce Webshop on Web and Database Server

Request a License File

The Sana Commerce license is required to be able to work with the Sana Commerce framework. The Sana license checks the type of implementation, the domain name(s) that are used to access the webshop(s) and backoffice and whether you are using add-ons. When you implement more than one webshop you can request one license for all webshops, but you will need to specify how many webshops will use this license.

It is recommended to request the Sana license before you start implementing Sana Commerce. Otherwise, you will not be able to see the results of your implementation work until the license has been granted. You can request a license file for Sana Commerce on the Sana Community.

When you request a Sana license on the Sana Community the following information is requested:

  • The customer name.
It is also recommended to specify the state of the project (live, beta or test) next to the customer name.
    For example: Demo Customer Beta
  • The Sana Commerce product version that you request the license for. The license version should match the version of your Sana Commerce solution. For example, if you have Sana Commerce 8.3 SP1, you should request a license for 8.3 SP1, but not for 8.3.
  • Sana Commerce product edition: Standard, Express and Express Pro. Starting from Sana Commerce 8.3, the Sana Express and Sana Express Pro editions are available. For more information about Sana Express, see 'Sana Express License'.
  • Expiration date which allows partners to generate a license for a trial period. When the trial period expires the customer will see a warning that the license is expired and will not be able to enter the backoffice anymore but the frontend will be still available.
  • The type of implementation: NAV / AX Connector, Provider (Scheduled interfaces).
  • Add-ons: Fashion, LS Retail, Webservices.
The Webservices add-on must be added to the license for the Sana Commerce Mobile application which enables the Sana Commerce Webservices API.
  • The 'Webshops' check box allows to request a license both for the Sana Commerce solution and Sana Commerce Mobile application or for the Sana Commerce Mobile application only if it is unmarked. By default it is enabled. If you unmark the 'Webshops' check box and add the Webservices add-on to the license you can request the license for the Sana Commerce Mobile application only. This way partners can generate a license for a customer which uses only Sana Mobile. If you request a license only for the Sana Mobile the frontend will not be available.
  • The amount of webshops that will be used with this license.
  • The amount of mobile devices that will be used with this license. The 'Amount of mobile devices' option, where a number of devices can be selected, indicates how many mobile devices are allowed to connect to the Sana Commerce framework. If you select the 'Webservices add-on' the amount of mobile devices should be at least 1.
  • Domain names of the Sana Commerce frontend and backoffice for which the license is generated. If frontend and backoffice have separate domains, be sure to enter both of them.
The domain names should be specified without the protocol at the beginning.

    See an example:
    Correct
    sana.demoshop.com
    Wrong
    http://sana.demoshop.com

Only after the request has been approved a file with the '*.license' extension can be downloaded from Sana Commerce Community. When you install Sana Commerce on a beta or live environment on the second step 'Shop Details' of the installation Web wizard you need to add the received license file.

When you plan to extend your Sana Commerce project or use the new domain names, you need to request a new license file. The new license file(s) should also be put to the 'bin' folders of your frontend and backoffice directories on your production server. If a separate license file for each domain name has been received, put the frontend license file to the 'bin' folder of the frontend directory and the backoffice license file to the 'bin' folder of the backoffice directory. If the newly received license file has the same name as the 'old' file that is already stored in the 'bin' folder, you must change it. You can give any name to the 'license' file, but be sure not to change its extension.

When several license files are stored in the 'bin' folder, all information, which is stored in these files, is combined.
