Create a Self-Signed SSL Certificate

Install a Certificate in the Trusted Root CA

To install a self-signed certificate in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities:

Step 1: Start the Certificates snap-in for the MMC. For more information, see 'How to: View Certificates with the MMC Snap-in' in the MSDN Library. 

Step 2: Click 'File > Add/Remove Snap-in'.

Step 3: Select the 'Certificates' snap-in from the 'Available snap-ins' column and click 'Add'.

Step 4: In the 'Certificates snap-in' window select 'Computer account' and click 'Next'.

Step 5: In the 'Select Computer' window select 'Local computer' and click 'Finish' and then 'OK'.

Step 6: In the left pane of the MMC, expand the 'Certificates (Local Computer)' node.

Step 7: Expand the 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities' node, right-click the 'Certificates' subfolder, select 'All Tasks' and then click 'Import'.

Step 8: Follow the 'Certificate Import Wizard' and import the newly created certificate from the SDK directory.
