Software Requirements for Database Servers

The database server where you install the Sana Commerce database must meet the software requirements listed in the following table:

  • Web edition is recommended
  • Express edition can only be used if the database size is under 4GB

  • Express, Workgroup, Web, Standard, Enterprise and Datacenter editions are supported
  • SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode should be enabled for the SQL Server instance.

  • The user who runs the SQL Server service should have 'read' permissions to the folder where the Sana Commerce installer is stored.

Azure SQL Database

Sana Commerce SQL database can be also hosted on Windows Azure. To restore the Sana SQL database to Windows Azure you will be asked to specify the name of your Windows Azure SQL Database instance while installing Sana Commerce.

Service Tiers and Performance Levels
Microsoft Azure SQL Database service tiers have different performance characteristics. If you are going to host the Sana Commerce SQL database on Windows Azure your Azure SQL database should be of a V12 version and Standard/S0 service tier to avoid performance problems.
