Pricing and Discounts

Sana Commerce uses pricing and discounts functionality of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail. Five types of retail discounts and price adjustments are supported by Sana Commerce:

Discount/Price adjustment Description
Discounts A simple discount that reduces the price of one or more products by percentage or amount.
A simple discount and price adjustment are similar. However, a discount is applied after the product price is calculated, while a price adjustment adjusts the sales price directly.
Mix and match discounts A mix and match discount gives customers a discount when they purchase a specific combination of products.
Quantity discounts A quantity discount is a discount that is given to customers when they purchase a particular quantity of a product.
Threshold discounts A threshold discount is a discount that is given to customers when the total for a transaction reaches one or more specified amounts.
Price adjustments Price adjustments and simple discounts are similar. However, a discount is applied after the product price is calculated, while a price adjustment adjusts the sales price directly.

Price adjustments and discounts can be created and configured in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3: Retail > Common > Pricing and discounts.

Discounts and price adjustments can be applied to:

  • Products
  • Product variants
  • Product categories of the Retail category hierarchy type

If a product has any discounts or price adjustments, the name of the price adjustment/discount will be retrieved from Microsoft Dynamics AX and shown in the webshop on the product details page. Using In-site editor you can change the discount/price adjustment name retrieved from AX and create a nice description per each available language in the webshop.

AX Retail Discount

Different discounts and price adjustments can be valid for a single product. In this case all possible discount offers will be shown on the product details page. If more than one discount is valid for a product, a customer may receive either one discount or a combined discount. A discount concurrency mode can be set. It allows to specify how the discount is combined with other discounts that apply to the same product. Only the discount or combination of discounts that meet the conditions will be applied to the sales order.

Before setting up price adjustments or discounts, check that price groups are assigned to the correct store. Price adjustments and discounts should be associated with the specific price groups.

When a customer adds the product to the shopping basket, the price is automatically updated to reflect any price adjustments or discounts. If the discount has been applied, it is also shown in the shopping basket.
