Units of Measure

When you place an order in the Sana Commerce webstore, you specify a quantity of products and you are able to choose a unit of measure if available.

In Microsoft Dynamics AX click: Organization administration > Setup > Units > Units.

Use the Units form to manage the list of available units of measure. Many units of measure are available by default, but you can create additional units of measure. Each unit of measure can be made visible/invisible in the webstore. Select the Visible in webshop check box to make a unit of measure visible. If the check box is not selected the unit of measure will not be used in the webstore.

Units

To add a new unit of measure create a new record and enter at least Unit and Description. Units of measure can be translated to any language and shown in the webstore when you select a language. To add a translation, select the unit of measure and at the top click Translated unit descriptions. Here you can select a language and enter a translation for a unit of measure description.

Translated Unit Descriptions

Select a unit of measure and at the top click Unit conversions. Use Unit conversions to set up conversion rules that control the conversion between units of measure. You can set up standard or product-specific conversion rules.

Unit Conversions

For example, you can convert pieces into box, determining how many items are in one box. A conversion rule that is set up, for example, to convert pieces into box also covers the conversion from box into pieces. Each unit of measure can have multiple unit conversions associated with it.

For each product you should also set a base unit of measure. This can be done on the Released product details form, under the Sell FastTab, in the Unit field. The base unit of measure set for a product is used as the default one and is shown in the webstore regardless of its visibility option.

To give a customer possibility to select a unit of measure in the webstore you should also enable units of measure in Sana Admin: Setup > Products > Units of measure. For more information about units of measure settings in Sana Admin, see 'Products'.

If conversion rules are not configured in Microsoft Dynamics AX for units of measure, only the base unit measure set on the Released product details form will be shown in the webstore.

If in Microsoft Dynamics AX units of measure are set to Visible in webshop, conversion rules are configured and units of measure selection is allowed in Sana Admin, then in the webstore there will be a dropdown where a customer can select with which unit of measure he/she wants to order the product.

For more information about how to configure units of measure and conversion rules in Microsoft Dynamics AX, see 'Units' and 'Unit conversions' in the Microsoft Library.

In Sana Admin you can also configure the rounding of the quantities per unit of measure that is set to Visible in webshop in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Weight and physical dimensions

On the Released product details form use the Manage inventory FastTab to maintain information about weight measurements and physical dimensions of a product. Use the Weight measurements and Physical dimensions sections to enter precise information about the product.
