MercadoPago

Introduction

 NOTE

The MercadoPago payment provider is available as an add-on. Only registered Sana partners can download it from our Sana Community. If you are a customer and you want to use this add-on, please contact your Sana partner or Sana project manager.

MercadoPago is a payment gateway solution for e-commerce merchants in Latin America to send and receive online payments. It is available in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Sana Commerce is integrated with MercadoPago using the Custom Checkout method for a multistep checkout, while Basic Checkout is used for one step checkout and online invoice payments. For more information, see 'Custom Checkout' and 'Basic Checkout'.

MercadoPago allows customers to pay their orders via the MercadoPago payment system directly from the web store, without redirecting a customer to the MercadoPago payment page (except bank transfer, one step checkout, and online invoice payments).

Multistep Checkout - Custom Checkout

In the multistep checkout process, when a customer pays the order via the MercadoPago payment provider, then the additional checkout step, called Select Payment Type, will be shown in the Sana web store.

After selecting the MercadoPago payment method, a customer will need to select the appropriate MercadoPago payment type and enter the required information. The payment types and information which is requested by MercadoPago from a customer to pay the order can differ, depending on the country.

One Step Checkout and Online Invoice Payments - Basic Checkout

When a customer pays an order via the MercadoPago payment provider from the one step checkout page in the Sana web store, or pays an open invoice, he or she will be redirected to the MercadoPago hosted payment page.

 NOTE

Due to MercadoPago limitations, Sana does not send item details to MercadoPago. Instead, Sana sends a dummy item with the total price. It is used to fix the issue occurred in MercadoPago, when calculating the total price.
