Shipping Rate by Country and Total Order Weight

This section allows to configure shipping methods with fixed shipping rates based on the countries, currencies and order weight.

To be able to use shipping methods which calculate shipping costs based on the order weight, you should configure weight in the Microsoft Dynamics ERP system for all products. Otherwise, these shipping methods will not be shown during checkout process. For information about how to configure item weight in Microsoft Dynamics NAV see 'Units of Measure'. For information about how to configure the product weight in Microsoft Dynamics AX see 'Units of Measure'.

To create a new shipping method based on order weight:

Step 1: in the 'Shipping rate by country and total order weight' configuration section click on 'Configure' to configure shipping provider.

Step 2: Create new shipping method and configure general settings.

Step 3: Set the fixed shipping costs for the related shipping method based on the country, currency and order weight:

Step 3.1: Choose the country for which the shipping costs should be set.

Step 3.2: Determine whether the shipping method should be available or not available for the customers in the checkout process.
If the specific country is listed with the 'Not available' property, then the shipping method will not be visible to the customer of that country.

Step 3.3: Choose the currency for which the shipping costs should be set.

Step 3.4: Set 'Min order weight' and 'Max order weight' per country and currency. For all orders below the minimum order weight and above the maximum order weight the shipping costs will not be applied.

The unit of mass (gram, kilogram, ounce or pound) for products and shipping rates calculation based on the order weight can be set in the catalog settings: Settings -> Catalog -> Units of measurement -> Weight.

In case, when for the shipping costs list of the specific country the 'Available' property is set: If the country is not in the shipping costs list or it is in the list, but the order cost is out of the order weights range, the default shipping cost is taken in this case; If there is no default shipping cost for this order weights range then no shipping cost can be applied to this country; If there is no order weights range for the country and no default than the shipping method will not be visible to the customer; If only one shipping method is available for the country, than it will not be visible to the customer on the second step of the checkout process. It will be applied automatically.

Step 3.5: Set the shipping costs including and excluding VAT per country and currency based on the order weight.

When a customer makes an order in the webshop the appropriate cost is retrieved depending on the customer's settings.

In case of NAV/ AX Connector the appropriate price is retrieved depending on whether the prices including VAT (sales tax) is enabled or disabled for the customer in the ERP system. In case of SQL Provider, the customers have the property 'Prices including VAT' set to 'true' by default. Therefore, the cost including VAT is retrieved for the shipping cost.
