Billing and Shipping Addresses Management

The address information is retrieved from the customer or contact form in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

To manage the address information in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, go to Accounts receivable -> Common -> Customers -> All customers.

The address information is managed on the 'Customers' form, the 'Addresses' fast tab (the same is on the 'Contact' form). Add a record and enter the customer's address information:

In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 the billing address refers to the 'Invoice' purpose. Thus, when you add the billing address, select 'Invoice' in the 'Purpose' dropdown.

Also when you add the billing and shipping addresses you should specify which address is primary. A primary address is the principal postal address for the customer.

The shipping address in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 refers to the 'Delivery' purpose. Thus, when you add the shipping address, select 'Delivery' in the 'Purpose' dropdown.

When no shipping address is available in Microsoft Dynamics AX, then the billing address data will be also used for the shipping address.

In the webshop the address information is shown on the second 'Billing/ shipping' and third 'Order overview' checkout steps.

You can apply sales tax group to the customer's address. A customer can have several shipping addresses, each holding its sales tax group. If on the customer card under the 'Invoice and delivery' FastTab sales tax address of the delivery terms is set to 'Delivery' or 'Invoice', then in the webshop when a customer selects the shipping address on the second 'Billing/ shipping' checkout step, sales tax will be calculated for the selected shipping address. If sales tax address is set to 'User defined' then sales tax will be calculated based on sales tax group set on the customer card.

If a customer enters the custom shipping address in the webshop on the second 'Billing/ shipping' checkout step, sales tax will be calculated either based on the sales tax group set on the customer card or sales tax group of the customer's primary address depending on the sales tax address of delivery terms set for the customer.
