Microsoft Dynamics GP

Related Items

 NOTE

Applies to: Sana 9.3.1 and higher

Related items are used by Sana to add similar or substitute items like accessories or spare parts and build relationships between the related items and the original item. These item relations are used for cross- and up-selling, or it can be also used to provide alternatives in case any of these items is out of stock.

You can add related items to the original items and to the item classes. When you add related items to the item class, all items assigned to this item class will inherit them.

Related items are shown on the product details page of the original item. Up to four related items can be shown at once, but you can add several groups of related items to one product.

Add related items to the item

In Microsoft Dynamics GP click: Inventory > Cards > Item. Open the necessary item and on the action pane click: Additional > Related Items.

Use the Item Relation Maintenance window to add related items.

Field Description
Item Number Search for the necessary item and add it as the related one.
Item Description  When you add the related item, its description will be automatically shown.
Relation Type  Enter the digital value of the relation type. It identifies how products relate to each other. Using Relation Type, you can create several groups of related items (up to four items in each group). For example, four related items can be included in the group with the relation type "1", other four related items can be included in the group with the relation type "2", and so on.

The names of the related item groups are automatically generated by Sana in the webshop, but you can change them using the In-site editor

Sort Number Enter the sort number of the related item. The related items are sorted on the product details page from left to right.

Add related items to the item class

You can also add related items to the item classes. When you add related items to the item class, all items assigned to this item class will inherit them.

To add related items to the item class, in Microsoft Dynamics GP click: Inventory > Setup > Item Class. Open the necessary item class and on the action pane click: Additional > Related Items.

You can add related items to the item class just in the same way as to the item described above. Items can inherit related items from the item class and you can also add extra related items directly to the item.

Substitute Items

In Microsoft Dynamics GP you can add two substitutes to the item. To add substitute items in Microsoft Dynamics GP, open the item to which substitutes should be added and click Options.

Use the fields Substitute Item 1 and Substitute Item 2 to add substitutes to the item. You can add only two substitutes per item.

Substitute items can be also shown on the product details page in the Sana webshop as related items.

If you do not want to show substitute items as related items on the product details pages, then in Microsoft Dynamics GP click: Sana Commerce > Webshop Maintenance. Select the necessary webshop, click Advanced Settings and select the option Disable Substitute Items as Related Items.
