Related Items

Substitutions are used to add similar or related products, like accessories or spare parts, and build relationships between the related products and the original product. These product relations are used for cross- and up-selling, or it can be also used to provide alternatives in case any of these products is out of stock.

Add related items to the item

In Microsoft Dynamics NAV open the Item Card and click: Related Information > Item > Substitutions. Use the Item Substitution Entry window to add related items to the item.

Field Description
Substitute No. Search for the necessary item and add it as the related one.
Description When you add the related item, its description will be automatically shown.
Relation Type Enter the digital value of the relation type. It identifies how products relate to each other. Using Relation Type, you can create several groups of related items (up to four items in each group). For example, four related items can be included in the group with the relation type "1", other four related items can be included in the group with the relation type "2", and so on.
Sort No. Enter the sort number of the related item. The related items are sorted on the product details page from left to right.

When a new relation type is created for the item, it will be shown in the webshop. In the webshop related items are shown on the product details page, under the general product information. Up to four related items can be shown at once.

If more related items should be added, another group of items can be created using the Relation Type field. There is no limitation to the number of groups that can be created. The name of the relation will be automatically generated based on the number of the relation type that has been entered in NAV. The names of the related item groups can be changed using the In-site editor.
